The Best Park City Playgrounds and Parks for Kids

Park City's Play Spaces

Sometimes kids just need to run around and play. Park City has some excellent parks and playgrounds that provide the perfect break from structured activities. Here are our favorites.

City Park

Located in Old Town near Main Street, City Park is the hub of family activity. The playground equipment is modern and well-maintained, with separate areas for toddlers and older kids. In summer, the splash pad is a lifesaver on hot afternoons. There's also a skate park, basketball courts, and a large grassy field for running around. Bring sunscreen - the Utah sun at altitude is no joke.

Rotary Park

A hidden gem tucked into Prospector neighborhood, Rotary Park has a great playground surrounded by trees. In winter, the gentle hill next to the playground is perfect for toddler-friendly sledding. It's less crowded than City Park and feels like a locals' secret.

Willow Creek Park

Near Kimball Junction, this park has a large playground, covered pavilion (great for birthday parties), and paved walking paths. The open fields are perfect for kite flying, frisbee, or just letting little ones run. Pack a portable picnic blanket for a family lunch in the grass.

Round Valley

Not a traditional playground, but Round Valley's trail system is a massive open space perfect for family adventures. The wide, rolling trails are great for bikes, running, or just exploring nature. In winter, it's a popular spot for snowshoeing and cross-country skiing.

Basin Recreation Fieldhouse

When weather doesn't cooperate, the Basin Recreation Fieldhouse has indoor courts, a climbing wall, and fitness facilities. Day passes are available for visitors. It's a great rainy-day or extreme-cold-day option to burn off energy. Bring a reusable water bottle for everyone - staying hydrated makes a huge difference with kids. Always pack a compact first aid kit - with kids, you never know when you will need it. A good pair of kids headphones will keep everyone happy during travel days. We swear by packing cubes to keep the family organized.
